Educational Qualification
SI (Staff Nurse):
12th pass from a recognised Board, plus
Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (3 to 3.5 years) from a recognised institution, plus
Registered with the Central Nursing Council or the State Nursing Council as a General Nurse and Midwife
SI (Pioneer):
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university

The Salary for SSB Sub Inspector 2026:
The pay structure for all three SI posts is based on the 7th Central Pay Commission under Pay Level 6.

The Selection Process for SSB Sub Inspector 2026:
Stage 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
PET (only for SI Communication):
Male: 1.6 km run in 6 minutes 30 seconds
Female: 800 metres in 4 minutes
SI (Staff Nurse) and SI (Pioneer) are exempted from PET
PST (height requirements for SI Pioneer & Communication):
Male: 170 cm (General), 165 cm (Hill areas / NE states)
Female: 157 cm (General), 155 cm (Hill areas)
Stage 2: Written Examination (Computer-Based Test)
The CBT carries 150 marks with 150 questions in 3 hours:
Part I (50 marks): General Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English / Hindi
Part II (100 marks): Technical Subject (related to the post)
Minimum qualifying marks: 50% for General / OBC / EWS, 45% for SC / ST. Negative marking of -0.25 per wrong answer applies.
